Sandra Dureau - experienced infrastructure lawyer and adviser

Sandra is a specialist infrastructure lawyer and regulatory adviser with strong strategic and business skills.  She established her own consulting firm in 2009, providing legal and regulatory advice to owners, users & investors in infrastructure, particularly in the energy market.

Following employment with a major commercial legal firm, Sandra worked in-house in the energy and utilities sector for over 15 years, in a range of legal, regulatory and commercial roles.  Most recently she was General Counsel & General Manager Regulatory at APA Group (ASX:APA).  Sandra was the foundation General Counsel and was also the first female member of the executive team of APA.  From 2004 to 2009, APA grew from a small company with approximately 25 staff to an ASX-100 company with 1200 employees, managing and operating $8billion of assets across mainland Australia. 

During her time at APA Sandra was a director of all wholly owned subsidiaries.  

As a result of her in-house experience, Sandra has highly developed commercial skills including the ability to transcend details and take a strategic view of the issues which need to be addressed.  She is able to develop constructive working relationships with all parties to a transaction, and seeks to identify practical solutions that achieve the desired outcome while addressing all parties’ objectives.

Sandra is keen to use her skills and experience to contribute both within the industries associated with her expertise, and  in the areas of social justice.  She is seeking board appointments in regulated business, energy industry, infrastructure or where her legal, regulatory and executive management skills and experience could contribute, including not-for-profit boards and government business boards. 

As a result of her upbringing in rural Australia, she is very interested in contributing to organisations impacting on access to education.
