Piper Alderman was formed on 1 July 1988, when well known Adelaide law firms Aldermans and Piper Bakewell & Piper merged. The new firm, Piper Alderman, was one of the largest legal practices in Adelaide.
Piper Alderman expanded to the eastern states in 1998, with the establishment of an office in Sydney. This was followed by Melbourne in 2000 and Brisbane in 2004. There has been considerable staff growth in each of these offices since then. All practitioners across the firm are available to work between all offices and are not restricted by geographical boundaries.
