Women on Boards goes National

In 2004, the Women on Boards program is being expanded, with funding from the Australian Government through the Office of the Status of Women

The aim of Women on Boards goes National is to get women onto paid Australian company boards. Our target sectors are:

  • Publicly listed companies (excluding mining)
  • Rural boards
  • National sports boards

With the funding provided by OSW, Women on Boards is no longer constrained by geography and volunteer effort and can move to a more professional basis. Women on Boards goes National will utilise:

  • High-quality market research of the top 500 publicly listed companies, rural boards and sporting organisations as a basis for approaching them regarding the appointment of women to their board.
  • A professional communications campaign aimed at aspirant women Australia wide, with extensive use of the Internet, existing women’s networks and conventional media.
  • Targeted networking with, and lobbying of, directors and boards that are good career steps for WOB women.
  • Events in Brisbane, Melbourne and rural NSW, assisted by the generous support from a range of sponsors.
  • Continuing encouragement for women to develop their directorship skills.
  • Continuing support of WoB women
