Sphinxx – connecting to make life richer

www.sphinxx.org is Australia's first web portal dedicated to advancing women in leadership and home of the only online national networking calendar for women.  The goal of sphinxx is to support women in and outside of their professional careers, by connecting them with targeted products, services, information and events.

In providing information about professional awareness, personal services and connections in one place – www.sphinxx.org - busy career women have everything they need to be successful leaders within their reach.  And the time saved from leveraging sphinxx information sources can be redirected to the things that matter most to them.

Log on to www.sphinxx.org and connect to make your life richer.

LinkMe.com.au is a new take on the old concept of a search firm.Established by Geoff Morgan (of Morgan & Banks fame), LinkMe allows you to upload your resume and market yourself to thousands of recruiters and employers who are looking for staff. You will receive calls about jobs you might not have known about, from employers who might not have known to contact you. LinkMe gives you the chance to review opportunities as they come along, whether you’re employed, or not.

Women on Boards is promoting LinkMe to its members who are interested in changing job - or just seeing what else is out there. Joining is free and Women on Boards receives a fee for every referral.

  • Chartered Secretaries Australia
Provides an alternative to AICD courses, including an 18 month graduate diploma in Corporate Governance.
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants-Directors Online

  • Foundation for Australian Agricultural Women
One of the four national rural women's organisations and a founding partner in the Women on Boards program.

Government Registers for Women

  • Commonwealth Office for Women
Comments: The Federal Government does not support targets. The online Appoint Women database is being upgraded and will soon have the same functionality as Women on Boards.
  • Victoria
Comments: Worth registering as the Bracks Government has an annual target of 40% for new appointments and reappointments to government boards and committees being women, working towards a longer-term goal of 50%.
  • New South Wales
Comments: No stated target on website, though Government has stated 50% elsewhere. Clear statement of the need for diversity. Online register, which is good to see.
  • Western Australia
Comments: No stated targets, but you can register your interest in a WA Board or do a search on WA Boards. It’s good to see that a State Government has put up good information in one place.
  • South Australia
Comments: Clearly stated targets of 50 percent women on Government boards and committees by 2006 and 50 percent of Government boards and committees to be chaired by women by 2008. Paper based system which is a bit backward given the Government has such a progressive policy towards women.
  • Australian Capital Territory
Comments: No targets, but a clear statement of the need for diversity. A paper based system which could be improved.
  • Tasmania
Comments: No stated targets, but an understanding of diversity. Online register which is good to see.
  • Queensland
Comments: No stated targets, but a strong committment to increasing the number of women on government and private sector boards. Register is paper based - again, backward for a large State.

International Research websites

  • Board Directors Network in US
  • Cranfield University Centre for Developing Women as Business Leaders
An excellent resource and some of the best work around in terms of evaluating what women bring to the board table.
  • Catalyst (USA)
Long term research and advocacy for women on boards.
