International Women's Day 2012
Women on Boards joins with many others in recognising and celebrating International Women's Day on Thursday 8 March 2012.
IWD was honoured for the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland on 19 March 1911. More than one million women and men attended IWD rallies campaigning for women's rights to work, vote, be trained, to hold public office and end discrimination. In its 101 year history IWD has grown to become a global day of recognition and celebration across the world.
How are we celebrating?
Women on Boards is hosting a special networking event in Sydney on the evening of IWD.
Claire Braund will speak on international diversity perspectives, including findings from her recent Churchill Fellowship, while special guest speaker Kim Saville, the deputy director of our international charity, the School of St Judes in Northern Tanzania, will make a presentation about the school.
A lucky draw will be held, with prizes being two $200 vouchers from WOTIF and a $250 gift basket from Evodia. Entry is $10 minimum donation to the School.

Who are we supporting?
The School of St Judes is celebrating its 10th Anniversary in 2012 and WOB is seeking to raise funds to support its work educating 1,500 children from some of Tanzania's poorest families.
Since 2009, WOB members have generously given more than $20,000 to St Judes, funding boarding places for the 900 children who live too far to commute daily to school.
Online appeal
WOB invites members of the WOB network to rally for IWD in 2012 and support the schools' 10th anniversary appeal. Donations can be made directly on the St Judes School website which is well worth a browse for the great pictures and stories. If you do donate please put Women on Boards into the organisation line so we know how much we raise.
Wishing you an enjoyable and event-filled International Women's Day.
Kind Regards
Claire, Ruth and the team at WOB
