Interview with Catherine Fox

Catherine Fox is deputy editor of AFRBOSS magazine and writes a weekly column, ‘Workspace', for the Australian Financial Review. She joined the AFR in 1989 and has held a variety of positions, including marketing and Smart Money editor, ’Corporate Woman' columnist and as court reporter (winning the NSW Law Society's journalism award).

Catherine is married to an actuary and has three children. Catherine is the co-author (with Helen Trinca) of Better Than Sex: How a Whole Generation got Hooked on Work (2004).

Leon L'Huillier
Leon is a Director of Woolworths Limited where he is a Member Audit, Risk Management and Compliance Committee, Corporate Governance Committee and Chairman of the Superannuation Working Group and the Woolworths Group Superannuation Plan’s Policy Committee.

He is a Director of ALH Group Pty Limited and Chairman of its Audit Committee. Previously, he was Chairman of Repco Corporation Limited.

Leon is an experienced Chief Executive and Company Director in the grocery manufacturing and liquor industries. He is a former CEO of Lion Nathan Australia. He has substantial experience as an independent Director of major organisations in distribution and logistics, property, accounting and financial services. He was previously a Chairman and Chief Executive of the Transport Accident Commission, a Director of MPG Logistics, and former Chairman of the Australian Prime Property Fund, a major retail shopping centre group. He is a former Director of MLC Limited, and Challenge Bank Limited.

Tony Shepherd
Tony is Chairman of Transfield Services, the ConnectEast Group and a Trustee of the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust. He is a member of the Australian Industry Group’s Defence Council National Executive.

Tony spent 15 years in the Federal Public Service. He was an executive of the Transfield Holdings Group and Chief Executive Officer of its Project Development Division until 2000. Tony was responsible for the Sydney Harbour Tunnel Project, Melbourne CityLink Project, as well as a number of other build-own-operate transfer projects and the redevelopment of Walsh Bay. He chaired the consortium which won the Lane Cove Tunnel Project and was an inaugural Director of Transurban Limited.

Emma Stein
Emma is a Sydney based non-executive director of Arc Energy, DUET (majority shareholder in Dampier to Bunbury), and 2 NSW government boards (Integral Energy and the Growth Centres Commission).

She also sits on the Strategy and Resources committee for University of Western Sydney, NSW President for NAPCAN (National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect) and is an Ambassador for the Guides.

Prior to moving to Australia in late 2003, she had an executive career in the building materials, fuel distribution and energy industries. Her last executive role was as UK Managing Director for the French utility Gaz de France, managing their energy retailing operations.
