L to R: Jeff Moribito, Kirsten McDonald, Fiona Kain, Louise Tegart
Women on Boards proudly presented cash prizes to two talented women, Kirsten McDonald and Fiona Kain, in celebration of International Women’s Day 2010 at Tap Gallery in Sydney. The new annual prize was launched by Ruth Medd, Chair Women on Boards and Lesley Dimmick, Director TAP Gallery at an exhibition featuring more than 150 entries across all genres and media. This was an unprecedented number of submissions in the history of the gallery.
The evening was lively and engaging as Women on Boards supporters mixed with artists at the inner city venue. Tap Gallery is a not for profit venture run by artists. The website is at www.tapgallery.org.au.
The winners were judged by Louise Tegart, Director of S H Ervin Gallery and Jeff Moribito, Head of Art at Ascham School.
Congratulations to Kirsten McDonald for her winning submission “After Saville”, an aquatint etching on paper, which received first prize of $1,500. The $500 encouragement award was awarded to Fiona Kain for her submission “Down the Rabbit Hole”.

Thanks to WOBers Julie Ankers of Statement Pieces, Rebecca Davies and Bronwyn Evans for their support for this inaugural award, and to all those that attended.
Thank you to WOBer Naomi Feigl for photography. Naomi is a strategic consultant for the global engineering firm, Parsons Brinckerhoff. Her enthusiasm for photography started with developing negatives in her grandfather’s dark room. In 2009, her photographs were shown as part of a student exhibition at Leichardt Library. “Ruth it was a remarkable show. Many thanks for organising it. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, the winner was clearly delighted and the locals added heaps of colour.” Ann Whyte, Whyte & Coaches
